The Fan Club often work in partnership with other heritage organisations, universities, and special anniversary projects, organising events, outreach programmes and putting together guided walks. We use the primary research that we use to create our film and theatre productions to develop historical walks that can be downloaded so that you can enjoy the history of old Southampton at your leisure.
Recent walks include Mayflower 400, with its accompanying fact sheet on the links between Southampton and Native Americans. For Jane Austen 250 you can walk in her footsteps around the old town. A set of three new walks have been produced for the Maritime Britain Project: ‘Discovery & Empire’ the story of Elizabethan Southampton; ‘Departures & Decline’ the story of Stuart Southampton; and ‘Sugar Slaves & Seabathing’ the story of Georgian Southampton. These are all available to download.
