To provide context for the performances, exhibitions and guided walks we begin with a study day, where researchers and historians will explore the historical background to the events of 1588. The day will end with a screening of the film The Armada Chronicle, set in Southampton in 1588. There will also be a small exhibition created by the University of Southampton and attendees will receive a copy of the novel The Theatre of the World set in the turbulent times of Elizabethan Southampton. A book stall will have volumes from the Southampton Records Series for sale at a specially discounted price.
